Ed Collins, founder of GPTMini

I spent 25+ years in technology leadership, most of it as a CIO and CTO. The job was always the same underneath: take what a business already has — its people, its systems, its data — and make it work better without making it fragile.

I’ve also done expert consulting, which is a good description of what GPTMini is: a business gets expert technical judgement on a specific problem, applied to their situation, and walks away owning the result.

Today I’m a technical founder. I build things with AI collaborators doing the coding and the research alongside me. That isn’t a marketing line; it’s how the system on this site’s home page got built. I took a stock Mac from nothing to a working local AI that reads the live web and my own files, mail, messages, applications, and contacts. It answers queries from my phone in seconds, cites what it used, and repairs itself from feedback on a recurring loop. Two AI collaborators, everything open source, using open weights models, nothing leaving the machine. That’s the reference system, and the method that built it is what I offer.

The reason I care about local: I’ve been on the buying side of technology for decades. Renting intelligence by the token, sending customer records to someone else’s AI, and depending on an internet connection for back office are all decisions a CIO makes reluctantly. The hardware to “Infer Local” is readily available. What’s missing is someone who has done it, end to end, and can do it for your business.

This is why I founded GPTMini. This is what we are about. Your hardware. Your AI model. Your business systems. Your questions.
